Bicycle – Rail Trails & Country Roads

Moderately strenuous. A ride of 25 miles on Rail Trails and country Roads in beautiful Sussex County (can be shortened or lengthened) We ride on the Sussex Branch and Paulinskill Valley Rail Trails to old Lafayette Village. Return on country roads. Hybrid bikes are best for this ride. Bring lunch! Rain cancels. Helmets required. Must call and register to ensure ride is on.

Kittatinny Valley State Park, Goodale Road, Newton, NJ 07860

From I-80 West, Exit 25: Follow Route 206N about 8 miles through Andover to Goodale Road on the right. (About ½ mile north of Limecrest Roaf.) Drive on narrow Goodale Road for 1 mile. Parking is on right side.

Arden Mine Tour Circular

Strenuous. We will start from the Elk Pen on the ASB trail and go to the Boston Mine first. Then take the Dunning Trail to the end and then head on over towards Time Square for lunch. There are a bunch of Mines along the way. After lunch we follow whichever trails that will lead us past some more mines and back to the Elk Pen to end the day. Possibly 12 miles total. Rain, snow or foul weather cancels.

From Suffern @ I-287 & I-87N Interchange exit 15A: Take Route 17 north about 13 miles to the Arden Valley Road entrance to Harriman State Park on the right. Turn right and proceed 1/2 mile to parking area on right.
From I-87 Exit 16: Proceed south on Route 17 approx. 4 miles. Look for road to the left with Appalachian Trail crossing sign.

Trail Clearing – Sterling Ridge Trail

Moderately strenuous. We need every ones help for another spring cleanup. Bring your lunch, water, clippers and good working gloves. If you do not have clippers you can use the tools provided by the club. Rain date is Saturday, April 19.

Silver Mine Circular

Strenuous. This hike begins at The Silver Mine Parking/Picnic area. Depending on the day we will go clockwise or counter clockwise on this hike. Do not bring your maps, as I do not want to get confused. I will try to go by my memory!!! If I can still remember things at my age! Maybe the trails will still be there. Rain or foul weather cancels.

From Suffern @ I-287 & I-87N Interchange exit 15A: Take Route 17 north 4 1/2 miles to Sloatsburg, NY. Immediately north of Sloatsburg is a traffic light for Seven Lakes Drive. Go 12.6 miles to parking area on right. 
From Palisades Interstate Parkway: North to Long Mountain circle (intersection of PIP and US Route 6). Take Seven Lakes Drive west 1.5 miles to Silver Mine Parking Area.

Moderate. A 6 to 7 mile hike from Reeves Meadow to Dater Mountain & back on various trails & a short road walk.
