Kittatinny Valley State Park

Moderate. We'll hike a variety of trails, about 8 miles of gentle ups and down in this beautiful park, which hopefully will be snow covered winter wonderland. This hike can be shortened to 5 miles! However soup and pie will be served at treehouse only after the 8 milers are back and ready!!!

From I-80 West: Exit 25. Take Route 206 north to Andover. Drive approximately 6 miles to Exxon station at 2nd traffic light in Andover. Turn right at Route 669, Lime Crest Road, and go one mile to park entrance on the left.

Lord Stirling, Great Swamp & Raptor Trust

Moderately strenuous. This 8-mile hike encompasses Lord Stirling Park, The Great Swamp (with boardwalks over wet areas) & The Raptor Trust. There are guaranteed Snowy Owls & Bald Eagle sightings.

From I-287 Exit 30-A/B:
Take North Maple Ave southward 1¾ miles, bear left at fork (Becomes South Maple Avenue). Continue southward 1 mile on South Maple Avenue, and make left on Lord Stirling Road. Proceed 1 mile to parking lot at the Somerset County Environmental Education Center on left.

Johnsontown Circular – Harriman State Park

Moderately strenuous. We'll try for about 8 miles hopefully finding untracked snow on mostly moderate terrain.

From Suffern @ I-287 & I-87N Interchange Exit 15A: Take Route 17 north 4 1/2 miles, to Seven Lakes Drive, just north of Sloatsburg, NY. Turn right onto Seven Lakes Drive and proceed east to Johnsontown Road on the left after underpass. Continue to the circle (turn around) at end of Johnsontown Road.

Sterling Ridge Fire Tower Circular

Moderately strenuous. This 8-mile hike starts at Sterling Lake, then takes us up along the Sterling Ridge Trail, which the IHC maintains. Views from the Fire Tower are unparalleled.

Sterling Forest Visitor Center, Sterling Forest, Tuxedo, New York 10987

From Suffern @ I-287 & I-87N Interchange exit 15A: Take Route 17 north approximately 2 miles to Sterling Mine Road (County Route 72). Proceed west on Sterling Mine Road (Route 72) approximate 3.0 miles to traffic light. Turn right at traffic light onto Long Meadow Road (County Route 84). Go north approximately 3.5 miles to Old Forge Road on left. Turn left onto Old Forge Road and take the next right toward the Visitor's Center (left side ¼ mile) and park in the parking lot on right. (The old visitor center lot.)
