Skylands in the Winter Moderately strenuous. The plants in the Botanical Gardens will be dormant and perhaps covered in snow. However the views from Pierson Ridge will be clear and crisp. The Ice Flows on Mount Defiance should be worth recording on film or digital. Rain, snow or foul weather cancels. Exit 55:
Go north on Ringwood Ave (Route 511) about 7 miles to Sloatsburg
Road; turn right for 2 miles to Skylands sign. Turn right one

Panther Mountain Strenuous. Come along for this strenuous winter work out in Harriman guaranteed to warm you up. This hike is 8 miles with 3 steep ascents, two swamps, and a great view of the emerald city (on a clear day). Immediately north of Sloatsburg is a traffic light for Seven Lakes Drive. Proceed east on Seven Lakes Drive 4.2 miles. Lake Sebago boat lauch parking area is on the left side of the road. |

Appalachian Trail Stokes State Forest Strenuous. We will travel the AT to Sunrise Mountain in Stokes State Forest. Views from Sunrise Mountain will be great in the winter with the leaves down.
