From I-287 South and I-78 West: Take I-78 West to Exit 15. At the end of the ramp turn right onto Main Street. Drive 0.4 miles crossing the bridge. At the end of the bridge turn left into Blue Cactus parking lot for river access.

Bicycle – North Country Trailway, Westchester

Moderately strenuous. This is a great paved bicycle path. It is the former rail bed for the Putnam Division of the New York Central RR. We will bike and explore about 25 - 30 mi. of this historic old railroad. Paved path suitable for all style bikes. Bring Lunch. Helmets required.

From NYS Thruway East: Take exit 11 to traffic light on Route 59. Go straight ahead 200 feet to McDonald's rear entrance.
From Route 9W: Go west on Route 59 1/8 mile to McDonald's.

Catmount Mountain Loop

Strenuous. This hike in the heart of Harriman St. Park is about 9 miles in length and has 5 climbs that afford excellent views.

From Suffern @ I-87 & I-287 Interchange Exit 15A: Take Route 17 north 4½ miles to Seven Lakes Drive, just north of Sloatsburg, NY. Turn right onto Seven Lakes Drive. and proceed east 4.2 miles. Parking is on the left (small road, small sign).

Appalachian Trail – Culvers Gap to Buttermilk Falls

Moderately strenuous. This 8-mile hike along mostly the Appalachian Trail starts with a major climb up from Culvers Gap, and soon we are rewarded with pretty views of the Delaware River and the Pocono Mountains We descend using the Buttermilk Falls trail, which is lovely in the Spring. Shuttle required.

From I-80 Exit 34: Take Route15 north. Continue for about 17 miles through Lafayette on Route15 to the traffic light at the intersection of Route15 with Route 206. Turn left at light to parking lot located on southeast corner next to Chatterbox restaurant. We will drive to the start of the hike from here.

Bike – Hope to Belvidere Circular

Moderately strenuous. A 30 mile ride of very scenic countryside from Hope to the Delaware, crossing at Columbia. Onward, on the PA side, to Belvidere. On the return a winery visit is possible. Ride is suitable for all style bikes. Bring lunch. Rain cancels. Helmets required! Must call and register to ensure ride is on.

From I-287 South and I-78 West: Take I-78 to Exit 26. Turn right on Rattlesnake Road. Go 1.3 miles to Lamington Road. Turn left and drive 0.5 miles to the parking area on the left, just before the bridge over the river.

Wanaque Ridge Trail (Trail Conference Map 115 )

Moderate. A 7 mile scenic hike along the new Wanaque Ridge Trail, see Indian Rock, (see the Jan/Feb issue of NY/NJ Trail Walker), with excellent views of the Wyanokies. Then we hike the well known Cannon Ball & Hoeferlin trails around Ramapo Lake to return. Joint hike with Ramapo ADK. Please pre-register with leader by e-mail.

From I-287, Exit 55: Go north on Ringwood Ave (Route 511) about 0.9 miles to 4th Avenue on the right (Valero Gas Station on corner). Follow 4th Street east 2 blocks to "T" intersection with Boulevard Ave. Turn left and drive north about 1/2 mile to Back Beach Park.

From I-287 Exit 57: Then Skyline Drive north towards Ringwood. Parking area is on the left as you start up the mountain, apporoximately 0.3 miles from the exit ramp.

From I-80 West Exit 34: Go north on Route15 to Route 206 North (Route15 ends). Follow Route 206 to Route 560 (just past Stokes State Park) on the left. Follow Route 560 across Dingmans Bridge (toll). Take the first left into Dingman's Ferry Access.
