Subject: The Saga of a Steel Magnolia in Texas. OR...YAYEWUP

Hi All,

YAYEWUP might be another arcane UNIX command, but it isn't. It stands for 'Yet Another Year End Wrap UP.' Can't believe that so much time has gone by. I am beginning to equate time with a frog...the thing leaps instead of walking like the rest of us.

I started the year in California and will finish it in Texas. I have been camping in Oregon and elsewhere. 'Been there, done that' is becoming a daily phrase around here.

We did spend Thanksgiving Day at Dinosaur Valley State Park. It was Ted's birthday. No camping this time, Ted didn't want to spend his birthday in a tent. But the drive there and back was pleasant, and we had a good time hiking around the park. The dinosaur tracks are awesome!!!!! Most of the tracks are in the river, as in under water. You hike down the river bank and along to shore to see some of them. The best ones you have to cross the river to see. If you are lucky, the water is low enough for you to use step stones to cross on. Otherwise, it's a cold and wet hike across the river. I don't recommend the hike because the water is very cold and the current is fast, too. Not too safe actually. Look in the picture gallery for the trip pics. In the spring, we plan on going back and doing an overnight excursion on the back country trail.

I'm working on a sci-fi thriller right now. The idea came to me in the middle of the night about ten years ago. I got up and wrote out the outline and first chapter. The I put it down. The thing decided to resurrect itself not too long ago, so I guess I'll finish the tale. Who knows where it will take me. In addition to writing the story, I'm looking into converting it to a screenplay. Why not?

Right now, I'm writing the sci-fi tale and getting up enough nerve to start making my Aussie Bush suit. I found the pattern a while back in a specialty shop and put it in with the rest of the stuff that I have plans to do at some point. Well, the round2it arrived. I went out to the garage and brought in a double armload of material to choose from. It was hard, but I settled on the desert cami. I have to be at least half desert rat so it got the nod this time. The lace on the pockets will have to wait though. Do you know how many pieces this thing has? Or how many steps you have to go through? Mind boggling to say the least. But, I want one, so I'll just have to be tough and do it.

I am also still using my Nordic Trak skier. Pain and suffering on a daily basis. Want to see my personal fitness trainer? He makes house calls, in fact he lives here! :-)))

The kids had their birthdays the first week of December. The baby turned 18, and I turned a little grayer at the thought of it all. That blasted frog leaped again. I could have sworn that she was still a kid. Time does not stand still...ask me.

BTW, here's the first picture of my grand-daughter. Lily JoAn. (named for her great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother)

Take care and write when you can.

Happy Holidays to all of my friends and their families. I hope that the New Year brings you joy and that you will all 'Walk In Beauty' with the spirits of those present and those no longer with us.
