Hi All,

Winter arrived in the Salt Lake valley last Friday, this time to stay I think. The morning saw a whirl of fat snow flakes blowing thickly about. Driving in to work was a challenge. Finding the lanes on the freeway became a game of hide and seek. Fortunately, I'm tough. Unfortunately, I had a passenger other than Katherine with me. It's tacky to whine in front of one of your colleagues. Well, we made it to work mostly on time. By afternoon, the snow had abated and it was just slick in the usual places. Nearly six inches fell in the Layton area during the day.

Saturday morning began as a whiteout. Katherine loved it. Lots of hamsters gave there all that morning when she looked outside and saw the 'nothingness' that lay just beyond her reach. The sun came out in the afternoon and we saw another three inches of pristine snow scattered about. The mountains were sugar frosted and the brilliant blue sky was dazzling. Wow! We went out for a short drive around town, and to get more winter supplies...chocolate chips! Ya gotta bake chocolate chip bread when the weather turns cold. In every direction the scenery is mind blowing. The desert colored mountains have become a fairy tale vision that stretches from horizon to horizon. Way Cool!

It's cold to stay I think. The weather now forecasts the twenties regularly for the nighttime lows. It's long john and cocoa time in Salt Lake.

Tuesday. Easy come...easy go. The snow is melting in the daytime and we are getting ready for the next batch. Maybe tomorrow? Well, we're ready.

This week is also the beginning of another transition in my life. I have accepted a contract in Silicon Valley, California, and I leave Utah in another week. This unexpected turn of events hopefully will mark the beginning of a new set of adventures. Light a candle for me.

Take care and write when you can.
