Excellence
In another garden,
I found a small school with a sign "School of Excellence"
Small people sat in one class
listened
dreamed
yawned
A speeding bolt of boredom narrowly missed me
A different room promised excitement
Small people wandered
grouped
discussed
joked
annoyed each other
The clatter of mental chaos strolled the room
The music of another room saw a teacher
dancing in perfect time
before a pleased principal
the students dancing in perfect time
before a pleased teacher
everyone was happy in their roles
but
none learned
Some happy hypnotism slithered toward me but
I escaped
In another classroom far away from the rest
a student asked, "Why?"
the teacher said, "I don't know."
No one was happy as each looked for an answer
I would have stayed to watch
but they were busy and
there was therefore nothing to see
