I walked from night to a glimmer

and

discovered a child

seated upon a rock

reading

The book bathed the child in light

and

He was enthralled

by it.

I spoke; he closed the book to answer

and

The light began to fade

Finally,

The child began to question me

As I answered

my inner light began

to shine upon the child

and

he was enthralled.

I wonder what he saw.
