S. M. Stirling

S. M. Stirling, mentioned elsewhere as a co-author with both David Drake and Jerry Pournelle, (see the Drake and Pournelle sections of this site) has some good MilSF of his own.

Marching Through Georgia and The Stone Dogs have some good scenes. They also have the Draka, a dominating nation of people. They're what the Nazis wanted to be. That makes "The Stone Dogs" disturbing. Marching Through Georgia is much less so. (The title Marching Through Georgia is a pun. They're marching through Soviet Georgia in a WWII alternate history.)

Co-writing with David Drake

Only The Chosen isn't on there. One the one hand that's a shame, as I think it's the best. It's about a WWII like war on a regressed planet. On the other hand, buying it is a very small price to pay for all the great free stuff from Baen. There is a sizeable (8 of 30 chapters) free sample available here:

"The Chosen" Sample

"The General" series (aka the "Raj Whitehall" series) is mostly co-written by David Drake and S. M. Stirling. The Chosen has a very Draka-like nation as a villain. Those of you who love to hate the Draka will probably like this book. Baen has a large free sample from the book available here:
