August 16, 1861
Captain R. H. Jones' Company.
Rev. Robert H. Jones is succeeding
finely in oganizing his company.
He has been engaged only a few days
and has secured 57 men and has a
prospect of completing the company
in another week.
The Rev. Captain has been preach-
ing on the Etowah Circuit, Georgia
Conference, the present year, but glow-
ing with patriotism as well as religion,
he has put on the armor of war with-
out putting off the armor of Christ.
He is every inch a gentleman, a chris-
tian, and a soldier;--a man of fine mil-
itary port in his person, with a voice
that a general might envy for its vol-
ume and force.
The company will be equipped at
the expense of Messrs. Troutman &
Branham, of this county.
No better opportunity will offer to
young men who wish to enter service.
The company will be drilled by a
Confederate States officer in the camp
selected as school of instruction.
Captain Jones will be encamped to-
day on Silver Creek, where he will be
glad to receive at least 25 additional
men. We predict he will get them
in less than a week.
