From the Fireside Defenders
From a letter from W. B. Judkins, of
Co. G, 22d Ga. Vol., dated July 8th, we
take the following list of casualties in
the battle of Gettysburg:
We arrived at the town of Gettys-
burg, Penn., on the first inst., and lay
in line line of battle that night. The next
morning we were ordered to the front,
where we lay in line about five
o'clock, P. M. when we were ordered
to charge across an open filed nearly a
mile in width. Our brigade charged a
battery of fourteen guns, and succeed
ed in capturing it, but being overpow-
ered and outflanked, we had to fall
back and leave it. The 22d acted
nobly.
We lost 181 men killed and wound-
ed out of 412 that we carried in. Our
gallant Colonel, Joseph Warden, was
killed. The casualties in Co. G-- the
Fireside Defenders-- are as follows:

bruised; Lieut W. J. Hall, supposed
mortally, wounded in the breast and
right foot, left on the field. Sergt. C.
