What
is HealingWorks Outreach Program?
HealingWorks Outreach program
is designed to facilitate connections between HealingWorks volunteer
network of professional holistic practitioners and local community groups
and social service agencies.
Working with staff from community
agencies, HealingWorks arranges for its practitioners to go to the agencys
site and give workshops to ithe agencys clients on a variety of
holistic health and wellness topics. Under our Outreach program, HealingWorks
volunteers have given holistic workshops at battered womens shelters,
senior centers, public schools, social service organizations, hospitals,
and many other locations.
What Types of Community Groups are Eligible to Participate in HealingWorks
Outreach Program?
Any New York area community group or non-profit organization
that serves a low-income population is eligible to receive Outreach
workshops.
Services HealingWorks provides to
Community Groups

Aromatherapy--The therapeutic
use of essential oils extracted from plants for physical and emotional
healing.

Drumming--An ancient technique
used to enter altered states of consciousness for information or personal
healing.

Feldenkrais--A powerful
technique of body/mind integration that uses movement to enhance the
communication between brain and body, thus improving awareness, as
well as physical and mental performance.

Introduction to Energy Healing--An
introduction to feeling and working with the bodys energy flows
to achieve balance, stability, and health.

Journal Keeping--An exploration
of writing as a way of expressing emotions, accessing ones own
intuitive knowledge, and finding a path for personal transformation.

Meditation--Meditation can
be silent or involve spoken works; it can be undirected or guided;
it can be done by sitting still or by moving. The key aspect to all
forms of meditation is awareness of the present moment.

Movement Therapy--Everything
we do involves movement. When you change your movement, you change
your experience. Movement therapy helps retrain the body to achieve
better physical performance and emotional expression.

Reiki--A system of healing
that utilizes hands-on techniques to work with the energy that is
found in all living things. By learning to work with this energy,
we can balance the natural life force energy within our own bodies.

Sound Healing--Music has
noticeable effects on the --we use it for relaxation and excitement,
among other things. Sound healing uses the natural restorative abilities
of music to maintain or improve physical and mental health.

Stress Reduction--Stress
reduction workshops can take many forms, but a common theme is learning
to pay attention to your dodily and mental responses to stressors,
and substituting new coping mechanisms for old, habitual responses.

Therapeutic Humor--Laughter
can be an important stress reliever. Therapeutic humor workshops not
only are lots of fun, but also introduce you to the health benefits
of making humor a part of your daily life.

Yoga--An ancient Indian
system of physical, mental, and spiritual development that seeks to
bring balance to all the separate aspects of an individual. Ther are
many different yoga techniques, but most combine special physical
postures and breathwork designed to stretch and activate the body
to promote physical and mental health.
How Much Does it Cost?
In order to cover a portion of the cost of
finding an appropriate volunteer to provide the agency with the workshop
it has requested, HealingWorks asks community agencies to pay a sliding
scale fee based on the annual program budget (or agency budget if there
is no separate program budget).

How Do I Request a Workshop for Clients at my Agency?
You can download a request form for a HealingWorks
Outreach program for your agency or community group. Just read over
the workshop guidelines (including cancellation policy), fill out the
form, enclose payment according to the sliding scale chart, and get
back to us as soon as possible. A Program Coordinator will call or email
you as soon as we receive your request form.
