Influences

This is something we get asked about, so I thought I'd start a section for it.

Rick - Guitar: The inspiration to write songs comes from Rites of Spring. I learned how to play guitar playing along with my Wire and Naked Raygun records. I love Galaxie 500 and The Wedding Present.

Heide - Bass: A friend gave me a tape my senior year of high school with bands like Jawbreaker, Screeching Weasel, SamIAm, Sludgeworth, and Green Day that I listened to over and over.  I never got sick of it.  After seeing Unrest and Versus sometime in January of 1994, I told a friend that I wanted to play bass and sing songs and start a band. He lent me his Liz Phair, Velocity Girl, Drop Nineteens and Juliana Hatfield CD's and said I could learn a thing or two. This was also the guy who said I needed to listen to more Sugar and the Pixies. I guess that's how I got started. Some of the musicians and bands I admire and have somehow influenced the way I write, sing, and play are: Braid, Cap'n Jazz, Friction, the Go-Go's, Heavenly, Ben Lee, Mary Lou Lord, the Promise Ring, the Spinanes, That Dog, Tiger Trap, and Tilt

Jim - Drums: Early influences: John Bonham (Led Zeppelin) for power, Stuart Copeland (The Police) for precision and incredible fills. Current admiration: Steve Ittner (The Hang Ups) for grace and subtlety, Marco Roepke (Busch) for perfectly complementing the other players, and Amy Linton (Go Sailor) for agility.
