Why, yes. Sometimes at least. :) Although, I do have to admit, if it isn't an actual Riley fic, he does often appear. I'll tell you when.

What they said: Susan - "This is an extra from a BtVS Virtual Season 8 that I've been reading. The will is well written in Anya's voice. I think it sounds just like her & it brings up past events including "issues" she had with the Scoobies."; Ray - "I have finally caught up enough to be able to post. I really enjoyed this fic. Just the sort of thing that I am beginning to look for i.e. the less featured characters in a featured role. And, even better, it is so Anya in the way it is written. Loved it."
What I say: I do not like sad fics. Despite the recs, I hesitated to read this because of the title. I mean, hey - this has to be a bit of a tearjerker, right? (This coming from someone who was sobbing this morning in the car during Five for Fighting's One Hundred Years.) ... It is not! It is a wonderful Anya voice and I laughed out loud throughout. Pairing: Xander/Anya   RW: This is a X/A fic so he doesn't have a huge presence in this. The presence he does have, however, is the way I like to see him: with Buffy, making her happy, and hanging out with the Scoobs. I like Xander's comments on Riley, too - it shows the friendship they've developed by season 5.

What she said: "Very funny, very witty, spot-on Xander voice. And there's the title..."
What I say: I concur! I did laugh out loud at some of Xander's lines - Doyle's characterization was perfect. When one character is so well done, I often find the others suffer. That is not the case here. I don't think there were any lines that struck an unh-uh chord. And, by the way, the funning "Willow's girlfriend" was excellent. It did not, however, hold a candle to my favorite lines in the story: "He hadn't seen Buffy happy like that in forever. Looking at her like that made him warm inside. These last couple of years he'd gone from wanting her to just wanting her to be happy. If he had a hat, he'd tip it to Riley. Maybe he could settle for a manly handshake." Yay, Doyle! Right on, sistah! The happiest, damn summer of Buffy's life. And, um, yeah - Riley is mentioned. Go read. Feedback author. (Review posted 1/6/04)
