THE SPY SHOP:
Movie Rumors and Photos from the Set

A reliable source, "Agent X", working undercover on behalf of "the ministry", has sent in the following photos and report from a reconnaissance around and about The Avengers set at Pinewood Studios. Agent X prefers to remain anonymous, but is someone who has reason to be at the studios.

The outdoor sets:

A couple a streets - one of which looks like Dutchess Mews (I could only make out the roof tops). There is also a large gold/white stone art deco factory/office.

One of the yew hedges by the Pinewood Mansion has had a tunnel inserted into it. The effect is of a long hedge which rises in the middle to form a doorway with an urn at either side.

The Cars:

Steed is to drive the classic The Avengers green Bentley. The tax disk on the windscreen reads 1999. The borrowed car was having an effects dashboard fitted which looks "normal" other than a circular plastic device on the far left hand side.

Nine Minis have been bought for the film (three new and six to blow up). They are all black with smoked glass windows. There are large black and white checks on the bonnet and roof.

A gold and green Sixties Rolls Royce (D'Winter's???). This had a metal frame attached to the front bumper. There was what looked like a snow-plough blade in a corner of the garage. I assumed that this was to be fitted to the rolls.

There was also a five foot diameter Plexiglas dome nearby - this may have nothing to do with the film.
