An Awarding Experience
Written by Stephen Schaefer
New York -- Stars snubbed by the Oscars got their just deserves when the National
Board of Review honored them with D.W. Griffith Awards. "I won this for
playing a nasty guy," said Crimes and Misdemeanors Best Supporting
Actor Alan Alda. "But the joke's on you -- I'm really like that!"
Oscar's other snubee, Immediate Family star Mary Stuart Masterson, accepted
her Best Supporting Actress plaque from Dead Poet Robert Sean Leonard.
"They asked you to give the award to me because we both have three names,"
cracked Masterson at the Equitable center cocktail party. When Masterson was
asked about her new ringed finger -- "He's George, and he's tall"
is all she'd say of her fiance who's from Texas.
