We found Sam the Sheltie March 23rd a few blocks from our
house. He was in terrible shape. We cleaned him up as best we could and
turned him over to Sheltie Rescue. When we found him, Sam had heartworm,
a severe ear infection, curled-under toenails, and a very matted and dirty
coat. Sam is a real sweet dog and we became attached to him in the very
short time that we had him.
A week later we saw signs in our neighborhood for a lost
sheltie. We called the number, and sure enough, its the same dog. We thought
Sam had been loose a long time, but we were told he got loose the same
day we found him!!! I gave the person Sheltie Rescue's number.
By this time Sheltie Rescue had assumed legal ownership of
the dog, and they were unwilling to return him to the owner. After much
discussion,Sam will be returned to the original owner. He is still property
of Sheltie Rescue, who possesses signed papers that Sam will be treated
for heartworm and taken care of humanely. We have been told that Sheltie
Rescue and Dallas Animal Control will check up on this little boy.
