or, I Want to Ramble :)
These pages have gone through a lot of changes since they were first started. Originally, they were just a collection of links and a small amount of information I had put together about one of my favourite performers (partly just for fun, partly so that other non-German speakers would be able to find out about him without as much trouble as I'd had). One of the reasons I really like working on performer pages is because you meet some truly wonderful people this way--and it's thanks to them that these pages have expanded well beyond my expectations.
The first versions of these pages were extremely informal. I was bored, but the first 
set of pages I'd created a few years ago, on Frances Ruffelle, were in good hands, and so I needed another topic. I had been enjoying Uwe Kröger's voice for two years already, but had only recently started finding information about him. More importantly, on 04 July 97 I got to actually see him perform, in Sunset Boulevard. His performance made a huge impression on me, partly for completely unrelated personal reasons, but mainly because he is an amazing actor! And so, he seemed like a logical choice for my new pages. At the time, they were little more than me rambling, usually saying things that people who know me would realise were just joking, but others might take seriously. Since at first no one was looking at them except people who did know me, it wasn't a problem...
However, that situation has changed. I've never registered with search engines, but know that more than one person has found these pages that way. I've also discovered links from other pages, which I hadn't known about...And of course there's the guestbook, and the people who chose to email me privately instead. Not to mention all the offers of help!! People have been very generous--including some who aren't even online, but have heard about the pages and offered their assistance through friends! So I realised that, now that there are actually people out there looking at them, it was time to take them more seriously. Thus, the re-written main page, the German versions of all the important sections of the site (ie, anything that's not just my own rambling) forthcoming changes to the album descriptions, etc. As time goes on, I'm hoping to remove more and more passages in which I gush and ramble and exaggerate--act like a "fan", basically. Which is fun, but it's not "me"--and it's definitely not appropriate for Web pages which could potentially reflect on someone else, despite his complete lack of involvement with (and even knowledge of!) the pages in question.
