Many projects at The Play Yard are self-conceived and self-driven. For example, this paper sculpture came after the child had on many occasions tried to vertically tape tubes (which often fell over) and roll many different-sized paper tubes, but in less sculptural form.

This child is taping to the table a paper string made from the edging of computer paper. First she taped end-to-end segments of the edging to make a string, and then she taped the string to the table and shelves. She communicated to other children how to go over rather than under her construction so it wouldn’t break.

Children dance around the yard wearing crowns and holding wands they made from fronds and sticks. They planned this goodbye party together with their teacher for one of their friends.
