Types of Woglists
In the archive you will eventually find over a hundred unique playlists, all custom made for walking and/or jogging. Woglists differ in length and pace, and few songs are repeated in other woglists. All of the woglists I post on he Weekly Wog will also go in the Archive. I’m currently doing the following kinds of playlists:
Single Artist Lists
All songs in the list are by a single artist. You’ll find a wide range of genres and musical eras here, from Elvis Presley to Elvis Costello, from Abba to ZZ Top. Most are in the 30 to 40-minute range, what I consider to be an ideal time for a daily wog, but for a select few I have Single Artist ÜberWogs that go beyond 40 minutes.
Single Album Lists
Some Artist lists are also One-Album Wogs. These are woglists composed entirely from a single album. Not all the songs on the album are necessarily on the woglist, and in most cases the order will be different as well. Time length for these may vary considerably, depending on the overall length of the album; most are standard length, but a few go into ÜberWog territory.
Theme-Based Lists
Also known as "mixes," these are organized around a particular theme or genre.
Quickies
These are designed for a those busy days when you don’t have time for a longer wog. Quickies last from 15 to 29 minutes, and every wog pace is represented here, from light walk to pulse-pounder.
Standards
Standard wogs last from 30 to 40 minutes.
ÜberWogs
ÜberWogs are slightly longer than Standards, going from 40 to 60 minutes.
Wog-a-Thons
These run from 50 to 90 minutes long. Wog-a-thons are designed to give you the option of running just part of the list, or skipping songs if you don’t like their pace. Like ÜberWogs, they are broken up into two or more shorter parts that you can either wog to separately if you wish.
Flatliners
Some folks, either out of preference or necessity, use treadmills. Flatliners are ideal lists for treadmills because nearly every song runs at about the same pace, meaning one doesn’t have to fiddle with the treadmill controls every time a song finishes and new one begins. Flatliners are organized by both theme and pace, and run from 30 to 40 minutes long.
Skippers
I have one Flatliner comprised entirely of songs one can skip to—I, Skipper!—and another, longer Flatliner in the works. Skipping every beat to such a wog I would not recommend—you use muscles not used in ordinary jogging or walking—but they're great for mixing in skips to add extra umph! to walk numbers.
