Hartford Public High School

This view, probably from top of Capitol, shows High School at right.  Words "Private Mailing Card" on reverse date card as 1898-1901.   See the site at yeoldepostcardshoppe for a history of postcard formats.

This view is similar to part of a panoramic view dated 1913 available at the Library of Congress website (go to site, search for "Hartford Panorama," and choose Item 2; high school is at far left.)

Portion of panoramic view is shown below:

For a map of Hartford in 1952 (U.S.G.S.) showing the high school and capitol, go to site of historical.maptech.com.

Owl Annual (1904)

Athena Club Debate of November 20, 1903:
RESOLVED:    That the world is growing better
         The negative won.

Owl Annual (1912)

I also have a copy of the Owl Annual for 1912.  Although no Jaffers were in the school then, there are some timeless cartoons by PSD (believed to be Paul S. Donchian '13) which you may enjoy.

Paul Donchian later became known for his mathematical models of four dimensional objects. For further information about Donchian, click here.
