The Initial Interview
The
initial homeopathic consultation typically requires a minimum of ninety minutes for the
adult and sixty minutes for the child (under 16). The purpose of the interview is to match
the totality of each person's unique emotional/physical symptoms to the appropriate remedy
which produces similar symptoms in a healthy person.
The individual desiring to use homeopathy should be prepared to answer a variety of questions covering physical, emotional and mental characteristics. To determine the correct simillimum (the remedy which covers your unique symptoms), the homeopath seeks out each person's rare and peculiar symptoms during the interview. Personality traits, food cravings and aversions, energy highs and lows, sleep patterns, fears and other general symptoms are solicited. Potential benefits of homeotherapeutics may include a greater sense of well-being, increased energy and stamina and a stronger vitality. Follow-up InterviewsFollow-up interviews at four- to eight-week intervals are recommended to determine whether the initial remedy was correct. The follow-up interviews usually last from twenty to thirty minutes and may be conducted by telephone. However, a face-to-face dialog is preferred to facilitate a comprehensive case analysis. |
