THE GAO/FBI COVERUP

GOVERNMENT AGENCIES PROTECTING EACH OTHERS BACK

last update January 20, 2001

In 1988, after much media coverage of the ongoing problems at the KNOLLS ATOMIC POWER LABORATORY, Congressman Mike Synar saw fit to send the General Accounting Office (GAO), the investigative arm of Congress, to investigate the Laboratory. The GAO set up an office in Albany, NY. For whatever reason, the GAO chose to talk only to KAPL management and to believe whatever they were told by the criminals. This was done inspite of the fact that the GAO was supplied with a long list of KAPL, and ex-KAPL, employees who could provide first hand testimony of the many misdeeds of the Laboratory, and in spite of the fact that the GAO was provided with a large collection of KAPL's own internal documents that proved, in KAPL's own words, that they had violated all kinds of state and federal regulations. The false GAO report, a whitewash, has been used before Congress, in the media, and in courts of law as proof that KAPL is an example of Naval Reactor's excellence. Naval Reactor's excellence is a pure myth ... which has only been promoted by Naval Reactors. Without independent oversight of the Laboratory, no one has ever seen what they really do.
