Enclosure: (1) Preliminary Assessment for the Knolls Site
(2) Preliminary Assessment for the Kesselring Site
(3) Preliminary Assessment for the Windsor Site
Dear Sir:
The Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act of 1986 (SARA) requires EPA, to take steps to assure that a Preliminary Assessment (PA) are conducted for each facility on the Federal Agency Hazardous Waste Compliance Docket. All currently operated KAPL sites are listed in that docket. KAPL transmitted draft Preliminary Assessments to SNR per Reference (a).
Enclosures (1) through (3) are the revised PAs incorporating comments which must be submitted to the respective EPA and state organizations by 4/17/88. As agreed in a meeting on 4/11/88, SNR (D. J. Hamilla) will prepare the appropriate transmittal letters.
As a result of the Preliminary Assessments, KAPL concludes that none of the three sites are appropriate candidates for further action under CERCLA and that Site Inspections (SIs) need not be prepared.
Very truly yours,
