Battered Sleep

I held the hands of dreamers on
the shoals of battered sleep.
The sweaty ocean of my sheets
had nearly drowned the sheep
I counted on my way to nod,
the land of of nineteen veils.
I plucked them bare and spun their hair
into my schooner's sails.
