Sleepless in Atlanta (well, okay, a suburb)...
Oh yeah, now we are subject to terrorism. Fun. I live less than 20 miles outside of a major city. Shit. (Oh shit, I said shit!)
Well, anyway, this is how I look at it. How did you feel when you first heard that we had launched strikes on Baghdad? Were you relieved? Were you apprehensive? Were you mad? However you felt - that is how you felt about the war. Let me just put it to you this way - I have fireworks in my garage and I wanted to go and set them off in the back yard. My husband managed to convince me that that might not be such a good idea...
Oooooooohhh... try to shut me up tonight. I will probably talk all night.
We STRUCK in the AM. At dawn. Call GWB dumb now. Who would have thunk it? Tommy Franks - you are my hero. Remember what we thought about Schwarzkopf? Well, multiply by two or three. That's Tommy Franks.
'k, so we were wrong on the timetable. Instead of Tuesday, it was Monday. Anyone else notice how OLD GWB looks? Makes me reconsider my ambitions for that office. The presidency is proof that stress ages you.
Anyway, so Thursday or Friday, here we go.
Notice that the stock market went UP today after the UN was taken out of the picture. UP. So stop bitching about Enron and your retirement benefits you ignorant baby boomers. Next time watch some CNN or Fox and learn how to invest your money. Geez.
Oh yeah, today - UN helicopters left Iraq, news crews fled Baghdad and the US state department ordered all non-essential personnel and family members to leave Syria, Israel and Kuwait. Fox News reports that the UN will be given 24 hours to make a decision or not (or not, is my guess) and then my second favorite president ever will speak to the nation on Tuesday night and give SODAMN INSANE 48 hours (48 hours more of delay, IMNSHO) to disarm or run for his life. My bet - Thursday or Friday afternoon, we'll get a breaking news brief and find out that we've started bombing the hell out of Baghdad and other various cities in Iraq.
I really have sympathy for this girl's family and friends, but not for her. What a dumbass. A "human shield" (in other words, an idiot) died today in Gaza, when she jumped out in front of an Israeli bulldozer that was about to destroy the house of a terrorist. Did she fail to pay attention to, "Be careful what you ask for - you just might get it?" Thank you Charles Darwin - we are pruning the herd.
