Edited columnists (Celestine Sibley, "Talk of the Town" column Peach Buzz and the staff-generated Relationships column); assigned and edited stories from four general assignment reporters. Later, developed and wrote the weekly First Look column, highlighting dining, the arts, pop culture and trends, and wrote occasional feature centerpieces for the weekday Living and Sunday Dixie Living sections.

1988-1993, Atlanta Magazine

Monthly city magazine with a circulation of 75,000, then published by a subsidiary of American Express.

Assigned and edited the Insider, Pleasures (arts and entertainment) and dining sections, as well as travel pieces and features. Wrote a monthly column highlighting a local arts and entertainment figure (Halle Berry, the Atlanta Opera’s William Fred Scott, filmmaker Julie Dash, R&B producer Dallas Austin). Wrote short restaurant reviews and instituted "celebrity reviews" from Braves General Manager John Schuerholz, celebutante RuPaul and writer Bailey White, among others.
