Aaron Smith was born 15 November 1826 in Walton County, Georgia; died 20 January 1909. Aaron is buried in Mount Zion Cemetery near Tallapoosa, Georgia. He married Louise Gentry, born 20 March 1830, died 03 April 1896. She is buried in Pleasant Hill Church Cemetery near Tallapoosa, Georgia in Haralson County.
Aaron served as a Private, Company D, 44th Georgia Infantry, "Clayton Sharpshooters" also known as the "Estes' Guards". He enlisted 04 March 1862. He was captured in Richmond, Virginia. He was released from a hospital in New Port News, Virginia, 23 April 1865. His Confederate pension was transferred from Campbell County, Georgia to Haralson County, Georgia.
In the1870 Census, Aaron and his family were residing in Forrest Station (now known as Forest Park), Georgia.
Aaron and Louise had the following children:
- Amanda Matilda Smith, born 10 June 1849, died 06 January 1936. She married Joseph Henderson Ewing in Clayton County, Georgia, 05 January 1870. They moved to Cleburn County, Alabama.
- Nancy A. Smith, born 18 November 1850, died 31 October 1935.
- Salley Smith, born 1857. She married William McElroy , 23 July 1896 in Clayton County, Georgia. They moved to Tallapoosa, Georgia in Haralson County.
- Larkin Harvey Smith , born 08 June 1859, died 29 December 1920. He married Margaret Ann Ewing.
Generation 2
Larkin Harvey Smith, (Aaron Smith ) born 08 June 1859, died 29 December 1920. He married Margaret Ann Ewing, 02 May 1875 in Campbell County, Georgia. Margaret was the daughter of Joseph Ewing, born 1813. Larkin worked for the railroad.
Larkin and Margaret Ann divorced. She is buried in Shadnor Cemetery, Union City, Georgia. After the divorce, Larkin lived on Ashby Street in Atlanta, Georgia. He is buried in West View Cemetery in Atlanta, Georgia, Fulton County, Section 8 Rang 49, Grave 15.
Larkin Harvey and Margaret had the following children:
- Amanda Elizabeth Smith , born 26 March 1877 in Clayton County, Georgia. Died 08 October 1953, in Fulton County, Georgia. She married (1) Jefferson Crow , (2) Charlie Yarbrough.
- William W. Smith was born Sept. 1879 in Clayton County, Georgia.
- Lula Jane Smith was born 1882 in Clayton County, Georgia. She married Charlie Martin.
- Alfred Smith was born 1888 in Clayton County, Georgia, and died young.
- James Harvey Smith was born 09 May 1886 in Cleburn County, Alabama. He married Mattie Leenora Murphy.
- Emma Mollie Smith was born 23 June 1890 in Cleburn County, Alabama. She married Ira Thames.
Generation 3
Amanda Elizabeth Smith, ( Larkin Harvey , Aaron ) born 27 March 1877 in Clayton County, Georgia. Died 08 October 1953, in Fulton County, Georgia, of Liver Cancer. She married (1) Jefferson Crow, 23 August 1894. He was born 1877, died 18 April 1910. Jeff was shot and killed by Ted Braswell over a poker game in Union City, Georgia. He is buried in Shadnor Cemetery, Union City, Georgia, next his mother-in-law, Margaret Ann Ewing Smith.
After Jeff's death, Amanda married (2) Charlie Yarbrough, 05 April 1911. Charlie was born 20 November 1857 and died 05 September 1906. Charlie was buried next to his first wife, Louella Ewing at Owl Rock Baptist Church Cemetery, in Fulton County, Georgia.
Amanda and Jefferson Crow had the following children:
- John Walter Crow, born 18 May 1895, died 30 March 1963 of heart failure. He married Clara Allie Teat, 15 October 1919. Clara was born 26 July 1900. She was killed by a drunk driver while walking down a sidewalk on 07 July 1967. John was a Pvt. in Co I, 109 Infantry in WW I. John is buried at Enon Baptist Church Cemetery which is located just south of Enon Rd on Stonewall Tell Rd, in South Fulton County, Georgia.
William W. Smith ( Larkin Harvey , Aaron ) was born 22 Sept. 1879 in Clayton County, Georgia, died 13 Oct. 1943 in Fulton County, Georgia. He married Nancy E. Mauk on 24 June 1900. Nancy was born Oct. 1878 and died 05 Jan. 1929. William is buried in an unmarked grave in Enon Baptist Church Cemetery which is located just south of Enon Rd on Stonewall Tell Rd, in South Fulton County, Georgia. Nancy is buried at Mt. Zion Church Cemetery next to her father Albert Wm. Mauk. Nancy's grave has a rock marker. She is buried next to her father who was born 28 Oct. 1857, died 10 May 1944.
William and Nancy had the following children:
- Herschel Lillian Smith, born 20 Feb. 1901, died 25 May 1966. He married Dolly Coggins in 1921. She was b. 11 Feb. 1896, d. 25 May 1966. They both died the same day, but the circumstances are not known. They lived in Gadsden, Alabama. Both are buried at Crestwood Cemetery in Gadsden, Alabama.
- Roy Smith, born 1903, died 1938. He lived in Tallapoosa, Georgia. He is buried at Mount Zion Church Cemetery next to his mother Nancy. There is no marker.
- William Arlin Smith, born 29 April 1905, died 27 Jan. 1968. He married Bonnie Mae Bagwell. They are buried at Hollywood Cemetery in Tallapoosa, Georgia.
- Ada Brunette Smith, born 19 July 1907 in Tallapoosa, Georgia, died 09 April 1965 in Winter Haven, Florida. She married Frederick Guy Willis, 21 Oct. 1927 in Tallapoosa, Georgia. Fred was born 05 July 1907 in Tallapoosa, Georgia and died 22 July 1985 in Haines City, Florida. He was the son of William Thomas and Zola Maggi Gann Willis . They are both buried at Forest Hill Cemetery.
- John Henry Smith, born 07 Oct. 1909, died Jan. 1976. He married Alice Verna. They are buried at Ebenezer Church Cemetery near Tallapoosa, Georgia.
- Earl Robert Smith, born 12 Mar. 1912, died 25 Aug. 1997. Moved to Haines City, Florida when he was just a teenager. He married Naomi "Kewpie" Reeves (Reynolds ?) in 1935.
Lula Jane Smith ( Larkin Harvey , Aaron ) was born 1881. She died 31 December 1947 from cancer and a stroke. She married Charlie Martin. Charlie was killed 17 January 1951 by a drunk driver. They are buried in an unmarked grave in the Enon Baptist Church Cemetery which is located just south of Enon Rd on Stonewall Tell Rd, in South Fulton County, Georgia. They had the following children:
- Ila Mae Martin, married (1) Rufus Moore (2) ???? Smith .
- Emma Pauline Martin was born 26 February 1912, died 03 May 1996. She had a twin brother who died at birth. She married Melvin Lowry who was born 16 October 1908, died 03 March 1976.
- Twin to Pauline who died at birth.
- Reba Martin, married James Dwight Cook. He was born 17 January 1905 and died 14 February1996.
- Alton Alfred Martin, died 1970. He married Florene ???? .
- Barney Cecil Martin
- Lucille Martin, married David Cash. Moved from Georgia to Florida and had twenty children.
Alfred Smith (Larkin Harvey , Aaron ) was born 07 May 1888, he died young from a bee
sting. He is buried in the Shadnor Church Cemetery
in Union City, Georgia. He is buried alongside his mother
and several other family members. Their graves are marked with
stones but no written markers.
James Harvey Smith ( Larkin Harvey , Aaron ) was born 09 May 1886 in Muscadine, Cleburn County, Alabama. He died 22 October 1957. He married Mattie Leenora Murphy of Fayette County, Georgia, 25 December 1911. She was born 18 January 1893 and died 08 June 1972. They are buried at Hill Crest Cemetery in East Point, Georgia. They had one child:
- Lillie Pearl Ruth Smith, born 11 December 1912 in Union City, Georgia, died 20 July 2001, in Atlanta, Georgia. She married 1) James Henry Madaris , 04 October 1929. They had one son. Ruth and James divorced in 1936. She then married 2) Street Broughton Hawkins, 08 June 1964. He was born 08 June 1915. They were divorced in 1971. Hawkins died 06 December 1996. She then married 3) John George Bishop, 25 August 1972. He was born 30 October 1910. They divorced in 1974 and he died 26 August 1986.
Ruth worked for Southern Bell, owned various rental properties and retired from South Fulton Hospital in East Point, Georgia where she worked as a switch board operator.
She is buried in Hillcrest Cemetery in East Point, Georgia next to her parents.
James retired from Southern RailRoad in 1951 where he worked as a repairman at the Fruit Growers Express Yard in Atlanta. Mattie retired as a seamstress from National Linen, Empire Manufacturing Company in 1956.
Emma Mollie Smith ( Larkin Harvey , Aaron ) was born 23 June 1890 and died 05 April 1986. She married Ira Thames and they had the following children:
- Hugh Thames was born 10 November 1919 and died 01 November 1995. He married Elsie Tatum.
- Fred Elden "Tony" Thames was born 26 July 1923, died 24 June 1990. He married Eloise ????.
- Margie Grace Thames was born 15 January 1918. She married Clifford Harmon who was born 22 February 1914, died 29 May 1964.
- Horace Eugene Thames was born 28 October 1928. He married Margarett Sword. Horace later married Betty Busby who was born 28 November 1941 and died 22 February 1999.
