1846: Adair County, KY Will Book E, Pages 35-36."In the year of our lord 1846 March the 5th day In the name of God amen I Charles Medaris of Adair County Ky being of sound mind and disposing memory and calling to mind the uncertainty of life do make and ordain this instrument of writing as and for my last will and Testament hereby revoking all other and former wills by me made
Item 1st I give will and bequeath my property to God who gave it and that my just debts and funeral expenses be paid out of my estate
Item 2nd I wish my sons Rice and Colbert to be maid up equal with my older sons
Item 3rd I wish my daughter Myree and Thirsey to be made equal with my daughter Clary and Leuvenia,
Item 4th I will and bequeath to my nearest friend Barbary Medaris the ballance of my estate for her benefit during her lifetime and at her death if there Should be any thing left I wish it to be equally devided between all my children
