So if we want to see how many Great Grandparents we have that would be 3 generations back.


    Now we have to look at generations which is generally accepted to be about 25 years.  By the time we get to the year 975 AD or just 1,034 years ago, we have an astounding 549 billion grandparents.  Not only is that a diffult number to believe, but that is more people than were alive on the earth at the time.  Most sources have the entire population of Europe at around 38 million in 1000 AD.  Therefore, anyone with a European ancestry share a common ancestor in much less than 1,000 years ago.  And by the way that is only about 39 generations.  Mathematically we all share common grandparents and our tree limbs criss cross many times.
    Those of us who have 350 years of history in the United States will connect much sooner, likely in less than 16 generations.  We are beginning to see these connections with the help of sites such as Ancestry.com, Family Tree DNA and Sorenson's Molecular Genealogical Project.  As more and more people pour their research into a common database the links are connecting fast.
    Below is a small sampling of some of the connections that we can currently verify through this process.  Few will connect directly with our Paternal link with one of our various surname spellings as we do not yet know much about Domingo.  But through our Maternal line much is known.  Mary Beamon, wife of Charles Maderas (2) and Rachel Davis Medearis, wife of John Thomas (4) seems to be a rich genetic link to many famous people in American History.
