Work train at Blue Ridge (Georgia)
This is the work train used for post maintenance. That's a
Farimont A4 on the left, then a flat car for carrying posts, a
hand-cranked burrow crane, a second flat car for carrying gear, and a
people trailer.
Having the crane between flat cars allowed the boom to
swing either way. Per railroad rules, the boom was always trailing to
keep it from snagging on anything. That's why it's pointed towards
the engine, this train was being pushed.
The caboose and box car are static, used for tourist info.
