Directions:
There are several exits for Cartersville. This route is the least confusing. North- or southbound on I-75, take exit 124, Ga. Hwy. 113 (between mileposts 287 and 288). This is Main Street. Coming down the hill you may be able to see the Bowen power plant west of town. After about 2 miles cross US 41. The tracks are 1/4 mile ahead. Turn right just before the track to reach the depot.
To get to the Porter Street Bridge, head north on the same side of the tracks as the Depot (west side). Just after passing a sawmill, Porter Street will be on the right. Emerson may be reached by taking Georgia highway 293 (Tennessee Street) south from town.
Alternate Directions for the unhurried:
Southbound traffic exit I-75 at exit 126, US 411/GA 61. Turn right. After 5.0 miles turn right on Porter Street. The first bridge is over the Etowah sub, the second is the W&A and a branch of the Junta wye (a good spot to watch trains). To reach the depot, continue past the W&A line to N. Erwin Street, turn left. At highway 61 (Main Street) turn left. Turn left again just after crossing the tracks. The depot is just ahead.
Northbound travelers may enjoy exiting I-75 at exit 122, "Emerson - Allatoona". Turn left. Follow this road to downtown Cartersville and turn left on Ga. Hwy. 61 (Main Street). Turn right into the parking lot just before the tracks. The depot is ahead on the left.
