Blues to Bop 2002: here the first names the musical festival celebrating its 15th edition. With the withdrawal of influential sponsors, Blues to Bop had to wait to introduce the 2001 edition, crowned then with the customary happenings in the piazza. This year instead is simpler for the Luganese musical festival that is the fine summer spirit in the center of the city. Blues to Bop 2002 will be able to count in fact on the contribution of two great sponsors, the Cornèr Banca and the Casinò Kursaal SA of Lugano, beyond that on the support of Garage Cassarate Volkswagen, Fondo della Lotteria intercantonale of Cantone Ticino, Fondazione Ing. Pasquale Lucchini, Eichof - Birra Bellinzona e Parisienne, and beyond that in quality technical sponsors in the City of Lugano, Clear Channel Plakanda, AI- Aziende Industriali di Lugano SA, Lugano Turismo, RSI Rete2 (which will broadcast the evenings on Saturday and Sunday), Ticino Turismo and Europcar. Found again in a good "state of health" of popular Kermesse the musical one, is testified also anticipating with which yesterday they introduced the first details to you of the 15th edition that will occur from August 29th to Sunday, September 1. The formula, by now consolidated from some seasons, previews that the evening of opening has place to Morcote. In the following days the center will be instead the traditional one. The Luganesi Piazza della Riforma, Piazza Cioccaro, Piazzetta San Carlo and Piazzetta San Rocco will accommodate four theater boxes, on which fifty musical groups will play more than forty free concerts. In the center of the names of artists already confirmed is the British rock-n-roll star of the sixties, Mike Berry who will be accompanied by the Outlaws. From Chicago comes Zach Prather who has already played in Ticino with Screaming Jay Hawkings in a series of concerts so dedicated to the style of Blues that it got its name from that city where they were born. Also on the bill will be Big Jim Sullivan, a musician who has played with legends like Eddie Cochran and Tom Jones. In Lugano, Sullivan will lead a quartet rendering homage to the name of this festival, proposing one mixture of blues and of jazz. Funk, blues, jazz, latin and rock are instead the ingredients of the music of King Johnson, a jam band coming from Atlanta. Also this year, unfortunately, the restoration of Saint Lorenzo impedes the traditional afternoon Gospel concert in the cathedral and will be moved, like in the previous festival, to the Piazza San Rocco: this music will however be represented from the feminine voices of Robin Brown and Claire Powell. And in order to wait for the Blues to Bop 2002, a CD collection of the best of the festival will be available near the information offices of Lugano Tourism.
