comments: I am totally blown away. I was at the
Double Door show, and had my CD signed. Adam would remember me as the one
who doesn't blow smoke up people's asses. So prepare yourself for a slew of
honest compliments and sincere praise.
First of all, with most bands, even great ones, there is usually a level
of
mediocrity to contend with. Be it a general malaise, or weakness in just
one
member. Not so with this band. There is such tautness and strength in the
unit as a whole. I can only hope that your relationships are similar. It is
a distinct benefit to have two incredible voices onstage. Either voice with
the ability to carry a whole band on it's own. Oliver is an incredible
Guitar player, the bass is always thick, deep, organic, and driving on
time.
You've got one hell of a horn section, and Marcus always seems to be
having
a great time. And perhaps I'm biased, and I know I,m critical, but there
are
not very many great drummers out there, nor percussionists to speak of...
so
you must all be beside yourselves at having acquired such talent.
The material itself is deep, diverse, real, and adventurous. And of
course
funky, and sexy. I will refrain from picking out individual songs and
gushing.
Let it suffice to say there are some songs which promote an outward flow of
energy, and others which are directed inward...both of which are great.
Quite a lot of dance tunes, and dancing is one of my favorite things in
life. And I must admit (okay, one mention) time stands still gives me
pressure in my chest.

#1: The new CD is fabulous, of course. Does the band make more money if we buy direct?
#2: If we buy, say, like 20 CDs to give to all our friends for Christmas and you end up selling over 5,000 CDs, we don't actually have to SEE "Hot Fish Laundrymat" tattooed on yer butt, right?
'cuz I dunno if I could stand that *grin
'course, if it was Marcus' butt, I could probably live with it..

comments: Boys, caught your show at Northside Tavern a couple weeks ago. It was one of those inspired stops while going home with a buzz but not wanting to go home. By the end of the night, I had a solid buzz and two CD's. Usually, I end up looking at the CD's a few days later thinking, "what the hell happened here?". Needless to say, but I'll say it anyway, y'all got it going on. I'm the latest evangilist on the block and looking forward to your stop in sept.!
