More information on Charles Williams.

Born July 26, 1791 in Union Twp., Fayette County, Pennsylvania

Married to Elizabeth Chipps on February 24, 1817.

I found Charles' family in the 1850 census for Union Twp., Fayette Co., Pa.

His connection to me is one of the more tenuous that I have.  I'd like to run down the reasons I believe that he is the father of Charles Henry Williams.  First, in the 1850 census, his family is listed as including a son Henry.  Although the person I believe to be his son was named Charles Henry, he was called Henry.  Charles Henry Williams was 94 years old when he died in 1924, making him born in approximately 1830.  The Henry, son of Charles in the 1850 census was listed as being 20 years old.  This would coincide with the age of Charles Henry Williams. Second, this Williams family is from the correct location.  Henry married Leah Mauler who was also from the Union Twp. area, as was the Williams family in the 1850 Census.  Third, Henry was married in 1852, so he still might have been living with his family in 1850.  Finally, I've done a good deal of research into this family, and I haven't come across another family that it even might be.

In the census, Charles Williams is listed as a farmer.

Be sure to check out the booklet from the Uniontown (Pa.) Public Library on Charles Williams.

Charles and Elizabeth had 5 sons and 4 daughters, one of which died in infancy.  The ones that aren't listed had probably moved out by the 1850 census and aren't mentioned in the booklet.

Charles died sometime after 1870 and his burial place is unknown.

Charles served in the War of 1812 as a private in the Army, was wounded in the battle of Niagra, and was discharged on June 15, 1815 because of his disability.
