Hello. My name is Chris Kozloski. I am 38 years old and reside in Albuquerque NM, where I have lived since 2005. I have a Bachelors Degree in Geology (Hydrology Emphasis)from Western Kentucky University and am only a thesis away from achieving my Masters degree in Geography. I also have a Minor in Art, although I am predominantly a self taught illustrator. My other academic interests include History, politics, and current events.
What are my interests? Well, as you can probably guess, I am an internet junkie and have been for the last 15+ years. I am a "Mac-Person", having used Macs since 1984. I currently spend too much time on Internet MUCKs, Blogs and forums, but I maintain a solid RL as well so I avoid calling myself a net addict. At least I have not started Eve, SL, or WoW. ;)
Geology is also an interest of mine (If the college degrees havn't already tipped you off). I specialize in Karst Hydrology, ground water drainage through caves, although I currently work outside my fiels as an Engineering field technician. I became interested in Geology through another passion of mine. Caving. I became interested in caving around 1987 when I first saw "Realms of Darkness" a British show on caving that used to run on The Discovery Channel. Around a year after watching this show, I hooked up with the Potomic Speleological Society, a caving group based in Arlington Virginia. Soon I was exploring the caves of Western Virginia and West Virginia, and soon after, Kentucky and Tennessee after I started going to WKU. What caves have I explored? many but Ones I remember the most are, In Virginia: Crossroads cave, West Virginia: Hamilton, Trout, and New Trout, Kentucky:Flint-Mammoth System (Mammoth, Salt, Crystal and Great Onyx) The Lost River system, (Lost River, Big Bertha, State Trooper) Hoy Cave, and several dozen scattered in the sinkhole plain between Bowling Green and Mammoth cave. Unfortunately, over the last few years, RL, the job, and a growing acrophobia (reawakened by a near fall in a chimney climb) have slowed me down greatly. Hopefully I'll be able to rejoin my forgotten hobby as soon as I get time to join the local grotto in Albuquerque.
I am also a self taught artist, an illustrator to be more precise. I wont go into much detail here as I have a whole page devoted to my art. In summary though, I am a disillusioned realist, disgusted with the condescending snobbery of the mainstream "Avante guard" abstractionists. I am also an anthropomorphic artist, although I am shy to advertise after the downturn in reputation that the fandom took with the influx of the alternate lifestyle porn and fanboy furverts. Ahem. Excuse me. That's a touchy subject of mine. BUT, snobbish teachers and horn-dogs aside, I am a fairly competent artist, practicing photo-realism, running a web comic and advancing my aspirations to become an animator.
I am an old school board wargamer. A Grognard. I got started in RPG's like AD&D, and I still collect the books for 3.5, but for the most part I have become a board wargamer with a smattering of Eurogamer in me. I'll leave details for the Wargamer Link, but my main game is Advanced Squad Leader (ASL) and I have a foot in the door that should have me getting a project of mine using the system published. I also follow GCACW (Great Campaigns of the American Civil War) religiously, and own a dozen other Avalon Hill, Colombia Games, and Victory Games titles.
I am an Eagle scout, class of 1985. I have full intentions of getting back into scouting as an adult leader, probably through teaching Merit Badges and adult leadership stuff such as Scoutmaster/assistant scout master. I have this on hold though, until my job situation allows me the time to devote properly.
Last. I am a political/current events/history buff and have been for 20 years. I sometimes come off as a hack, but I just find the real world a hell of a lot more interesting and intellectually stimulating then Survivor and American Idol.
Anyhow. The best way yo keep up with me is through my LiveJournal. Its been rather filled up with political posts lately, so if you see a political tag in the subject line beware, but I post a lot of jokes and RL stories there too.
