The Roper Mountain Astronomers is a nonprofit organization that promotes amateur astronomy
related activities in the Upstate of South Carolina. In addition, the club provides education
and volunteer services to the Roper Mountain Science Center. The Roper Mountain
Science Center is a facility owned and operated by the Greenville County School District.

to The Roper Mountain Science Center - Greenville, SC. We're located at 83 degrees West,
34 degrees North on the planet Earth, Sol star system, located in the
Western arm of the Milky Way Galaxy - A quick hop from anywhere in
the known Universe - for anyone off-world, phone home on the Universal
party line -- the 21cm hydrogen spectral emmission band -- we humans
are listening.
Board Meeting
Executive board meetings are held every month on the thrid Monday of the month. The
board meeting is held at the Roper Mountain Science Center in the Universe Classroom.
Star Party
A Star Party is typically held every month, at various locations, on the third
Saturday of the month. Typically, half the star parties are at the Roper Mountain
Science Center's Daniel Observatory. These gathering allow access, by members and
invited guests, access to the 23" Clark Refractor and variety of smaller instruments.
Most events start at 7:30 PM Some months the Star Party is moved up a week or back a week
to avaid full Moon conditions and allow for darker observing skies.
