Equipment and Resources

The Telescopes
RMA offers several telescopes - including the 17.5" "Godzilla" for star parties - plus a 5" and an 8" on a check-out basis to the membership. Come to a meeting and talk to a club officer for more information. This is an excellent way to get started without investing a lot of money up-front.

The Library
The Roper Mountain Astronomers club members have aquired and donated, to the Roper Mountain Science Center, a tremendous collection of astronomy books and materials. The materials complement the existing RMSC Kappen Astronomy Library. Both collections are kept on-site at the RMSC facility. See Doug Gegen for access.

The Roper Mountain Science Center (RMSC) Facilities
Memebers are encouraged to participate in Roper Mountain Science Center activities, such as the "Friday Night" and "Second Saturday" public presentations at the Science Center. Training is available on the operation of both the 23" Clark refractor telescope in the Daniel Observatory and the DigiStar projection system in the T.C. Hooper Planetarium and Science Sphere for members interested in volunteering their time. Please contact Doug Gegen 864/281-1188 for details.
