The Antilles High School Reunion, held September 4-7, 1998, in St. Augustine, Florida, is now a memory -- or rather, a full set of memories. The most prevalently expressed thought by those who attended this unique occasion was, "I never thought it would be possible for Antilles to have a reunion."
Why did they think this? Because, as our Alma Mater says, "...and scattered are Antilles' sons and daughters." Of the 7 other members of the AHS graduating class of 1963 who attended the reunion, I had not set eyes on any of them since the evening of Thursday, June 13, 1963 when we paraded across the stage in our caps and gowns. Early the next morning, I boarded an Eastern Air Lines jet at Isla Verde Airport and flew off to college in Alabama. Offspring of military and federal employees stationed in Puerto Rico, we were destined to be scattered like "the clouds that float o'er Caribbean waters." But thanks to Sid Grant '59 in California, and a host of other dedicated alumni who had a dream, and worked to make that dream come true, I now have these new memories, as captured in these pictures. Thanks, Sid, and everyone involved.
