Laura Chandler is a versatile composer who boldly transcends musical genres, combining elements of jazz, pop, folk, and alternative music to create her own unique musical landscape. In 1996 her album, Mapping Territories, met with critical acclaim (see PRESS for more info and reviews). Music Reviews Quarterly hailed her as “one of the most exciting and important new figures on the scene today.” Laura has done work in film, television and commercials. She was named one of the “Best of the Bay Area” by Fast Folk Music Magazine and featured in Nashville’s derivative book on up-and-coming songwriters, Looking For Number One. Laura tours nationally and internationally, both solo and with her band. She has shared the stage with many outstanding artists including: Acoustic Alchemy, Chris Isaak, Keb Mo', Larry Carlton, Iris Dement, Spyro Gyra, and the Violent Femmes. Originally from Atlanta, GA, Laura grew up in Connecticut and Florida, and now resides in the San Francisco Bay Area. She began her career in music while studying Literature at Stetson University. She is a self taught guitarist, bassist, and keyboardist, attributing her accomplishment with these instruments to her work with great musicians along the way. Laura also teaches music workshops and produces albums for other songwriters. She has released three albums of her own work and in 1996 started her record label, Red Cow Records, which is now home to several artists.
