Our Rose
"Mama Rose" Hammond is back.... in Greenville. After several months in Little Rock Ark. she has temporarily set up residence at St. Francis Hospital, downtown. We intend to fatten her up, both physically and spiritually, in prep for her next title fight. We invite all her family and friends to visit here or at the hospital for updates. Everyone's welcome
Wilma Rose Hammond was first diagnosed with multiple myloma shortly after 2000, thanks to the attentiveness to detail by Dr. Michael Zeager . He in turn had Dr. Gary Spitzer begin treating her for myloma related issues.
Over the last six years, Rose has been in and out of treatment, both routine and specialized, here in Greenville and in Litlle Rock, Ark. at the Arkansas Cancer Research Center.. All the while active in her regular life.
By regular life I mean taking care of others, helping those in need. Donating time for causes. Remaining an active force in her Church- Advent Methodist. Being a daughter, wife, mother and grandmother.
All of us who know Rose are aware of her illness, but at the same time, blind to it. I think it's because of her strong moral fiber. How she was raised. She never complaines or requires. She just is and has always been.
