A brief explanation.... The border pictures down the left side of these pages were taken in a sacred space which played a central role as inspiration for this website. Within an area surrounded by building wings, this church created a sunken central courtyard. But rather than empty lawn, the space was filled with a pavement maze for prayer walks inside a pair of curved stone memorial walls, with plantings in beds defined by the walls and pavements.  I was visiting for a piano recital, but in noticing the details, my interest in small scale landscape design took hold again, and led to the idea of sharing this and other sites I knew about. In time, I will be coming back to fill in as other sites come to my attention.
