I Don't Want To Grow Up

BOYS
I don't want to grow up and be just like my father.
Dealing with taxes and incoming faxes. But why even bother?
Where's the adventure in short term debenture? I just can't imagine
Why he wants to be an adult.

GIRLS
I don't want to grow up and be just like my mother.
Just when your payments catch up to the statements, they send you
another.
Where's the enjoyment in gainful employment? I just can't imagine
Why she want to be an adult.

ALL
I'd rather play a game.
(I'd rather stare at a stucco wall.)
I'd rather run away and be free.

I'd rather fly away
(I'd rather stand in a box of tacks.)
I'd rather fly away and be free.

(in a round:)
I don't want to grow up till the hot place gets colder
So don't try to page me or minimum wage me, until I'm much older.
What good is college and empirical knowledge, I just can't imagine.

I don't want to be an adult. No, I don't want to be an adult.
No. I don't want to be an adult. I don't
WANT TO BE AN ADULT!
