I have been following this thread for the past several days. Once again
we are faced with a threat to our noise floor, and have engaged the
enemy. These same evenings, I have taken a break from the studies, and
fired up the rig. I beat the ether into a froth for better than 20
minutes each time, between 9 and 10 P.M.. I swung the J-Beams around
the compass, on both SSB and (gasp) CW. There was nary a response.
Normally, my station can reliable work out about 150 miles. I
respectfully submit that we had best populate our bands on times and
dates other than contests and meteor showers, or else we will lose them,
and each precious dB of noise floor will be an irrelevant point of
contention.
