Hams need to be a little diplomatic in this matter too. One can only play the dog in the manger card for so long. Since the golden rule applies, if commercial co-users of our bands can't get along with us, they'll just go ahead and take steps to get along without us (as in 220-222 Mc).
Around here there is virtaually no activity on VHF except repeater frequencies. The SSB portions of bands above 10 meters are dead 95+ percent of the time (and most of the 5% is during contest weekends). It gets so you (almost??) feel guilty buying more gear when you know it's going to sit idle most of the time.
