Hello from up north!
Memorial Day weekend has passed and the summer season has begun. We are in the process of purchasing an inn and selling our house and nobody was working this weekend, so we spent the weekend being tourists. Clicking on any of the thumbnail pictures on these pages should open a larger version in a separate browser window.
On Sunday we went to the "Wildquack Festival" in Jackson, up the road. We didn't make it for the children's games and contests, but watched the main event of the festival - the rubber duck race. People buy ducks, which are released over Jackson Falls and race to the park down the road. The people who bought the first bunch of ducks and the very last duck win prizes. I have some video of the race that I hope to upload. It was funny to watch the ducks swarm down the river; and even funnier to watch Lucas watching the ducks.
On Monday we took a drive up through the north east sections of the White Mountain National Forest and stopped for a picnic lunch.
The weather turned nasty again after the weekend, so I haven't gotten to take any more photos of the Nereledge Inn. The one time I got in with the camera, the batteries ran down before I got far. I tried to add a pic someone else took of the outside, but it's not showing up for some reason. I'll try to get more photos soon.
And, some gratuitous photos of the kids:
