Bread Pudding

4 cups evaporated milk

1 tsp vanilla

6 eggs

1 cup sugar

 

2 cups sliced and cubed French bread or Danish pastry

½ lb butter, melted

 

Warm milk slightly. Combine with sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Strain.

 

Butter a 1-quart baking dish. Fill with egg batter.

 

Dip bread cubes in melted butter. Add to top of egg batter, where they will float.

 

Bake in 300°F slow oven about 40 minutes.

 

Serves 10.
