September 1996

9/11/96    It was a hot day and I had taken the children to Goodrich to get ice cream cones.  There was an elderly lady in line ahead of us who wanted some ice cream, but when the server told her how much it cost she said she didn't want it.  Well you don't stand in line for twenty minutes to change your mind.  When it was my turn to order I order her a pint of the ice cream and gave it to her.  She smiled an thanked me.

9/1/96    I found you by visiting a site called Letters From Mexico. You are on the same home page as that site.

I live near a small town near the San Francisco Bay Area. We take pride in living a slower life. When I lived in town, people used to stop on the street so I could back out of my driveway. Now, I frequently slow down to let a car in, or stop to let a pedestrian cross a busy street. These are small traffic activities, but people often wave or nod in appreciation.
