11/16/97 I saw an elderly gentleman on the side of the road, standing next to his stalled car. I asked if he needed assistance. He said he had help coming. I left, but since it was a very hot day down South, I stopped at the next convenience store, bought a couple bottles of water and returned to the man with his car. He appreciated the water, helped direct my car back into what became a complex traffic snarl, and I drove to my destination.

9/21/97 WHAT a great idea! My most recent (tho' there are 100's) is leaving lots of flowers on strangers graves last time I went out to visit a friend's location. Made the place more cheerful and made me feel better. I also gleaned interesting historical info from various monuments. This was at Forest Lawn's cemetary in Los Angeles, California. Most of my past experiences have to do with giving some "homeless" food, money, taxi coupons, bus tokens, the like. I feel sharing expands the soul even though I don't have much to share. It's not the amounts but the acts themselves. When people are kind it has great progeny.

7/17/97 I work at a movie theater taking tickets. On a particularly busy Saturday night, two younger gentlemen approached me telling me that they had payed for tickets, yet did not have them with them. Despite the line behind them, I left my booth to check their story with the ticket seller across the building. It turns out they had bought tickets, and when I came back to my post I found the line virtually gone. It turns out the man behind them had voluntarily ripped ticket stubs of over 25 customers, depositing them in my hand when I came back. I gave him a free soda coupon--one good act deserves another!

4/20/97 I try to go to a grocery store on Veteran's Day. When I'm paying for my groceries, I give the clerk about $10 extra (or so) with instructions to please ask the next people coming through his or her check out line if he or she is a verteran. The first one who says they have servered in our military is to have that money to help pay for their groceries. I also admonish the clerk to ask people of all ages and both sexes. Maybe that 79 year old looking lady was a WAC in World War 11.
