*****New install coming soon*****

I own a 1987 Honda Accord LXi 4-door which I installed a system that does in fact contain five different manufactures. All top quality components I might add. They are as follows:

  • Kenwood KRC-860 Cassette/Radio/CD-Changer controller
  • Kenwood 10 CD-Changer
  • Rockford Fosgate BLT Balanced Line Driver
  • Rockford Fosgate OEQ-2 Dual 10 band perimetric EQ
  • Xtant 3300c 60x2 and 180x1 Amp
  • MB Quarts 215.02CX 2-way speaker component set
  • Mass 1" Soft Dome Tweeters
  • Coustic DR Series DR-328 Dual 8” Bass Pump
  • StreetWire 1mf Stiffing Cap
  • SoundQuest Power Blocks
  • Alpine Alarm
  • The head unit and cd-changer were professional install by HiFi Buys here in Atlanta. The Bass Pump was installed by American Auto (although I wasn’t too happy with their job). I installed the rest and I tried to make as stealth as possible. The EQ, amp and cap are installed in the trunk on an MDF “amp rack” that is attached to the back of the fold down back seat. All wires submerge into the carpet, only showing the connectors and connections. The Mass Tweeters are mounted to the "sailers" of the doors. The MB Quarts component set are installed on a Fiberglass Kick panel that was formed to fit in the kick panel area and the 6" are in the doors. The Bass Pump is mounted in the rear deck with the port firing in the car’s interior. The truck acts as a enclosure for the exposed 8” woofers. It’s all wired up with StreetWires (sort of), gold connectors and a SoundQuest power blocks.

As you will see with the enclosed diagram, the front speaker outputs of the Kenwood head go directly to the Mass tweeters. I have them installed on the "sailers" to bring the sound stage up alittle (I am also using the head's DSP surround sound on these tweeters to wided the stage alittle). The 1v rear line outputs of the Kenwood are feeding into the Rockford Fosgate BLT which gets bumped up to a 9v balanced line output and then goes to the Rockford Fosgate QES2 EQ. I have the EQ feeding the Xtant a 4v input and from there I am using Xtant's internal crossover. The MB Quarts are getting 60 watts (4ohm load) each (High passed at 80Hz @ 12db slope) and the Bass Pump is getting 360 watts (2ohm load)(Low passed at 80Hz).

Although it is not confirmed, the total SPL of my system is somewhere in the 105 to 110 range. Clarity and imaging was my goal for this system and I believe that I accomplished that. I want to feel as though I am sitting in my living room when I listening to music in my car.
