Why not nominate someone for the Cor Jesu Award and for the Athletic Hall of Fame!

You may have noticed the seven air chilling units on the track near the Mall. These will be used to send cool air throughout the buildings when needed. Eventually they will be fenced in. The construction on the parking lot near the mall is an extension of the present boiler room which will house the heating mechanics for the new system. You might note the improvements on the third floor done over this easter including the ceiling and groundwork for the new systems.

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Mrs. Joan Woods, the grandmother of one of our freshmen.

Pile driving, construction, renewal are all present at McClancy as the new 7 million dollar facelift is beginning. The result will be a completely soundproofed building and an updated facility in many ways.

Katrina, the hurricane, destroyed a large portion of one of our Brothers of the Sacred Heart boarding and day schools in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. The school building, the Retirement home of the senior Brothers, and all the vehicles, equipment, and resources of St. Stanislaus were heavily damaged. Brother Martin High School, the Brothers' school in New Orleans as well as three residences and the provincial administration building of the Brothers may also be damaged Good news is that Brother Martin High School will reopen in Baton Rouge and St. Stanislaus will re-open on November 1. Please keep our brother schools and the New Orleans province of the Brothers in your prayers.

The soundproofing of the McClancy is underway. Crews began work on August 17. The first project was to move Room 100 from the parking lot to the softball field adjacent to 73rd Street. The second project is the sound proofing in the Mall and in the gym. The locker room is also under construction. An additional classroom is planned for the rear area of the stage. The furnace room will be extended to accomodate air cooling and heating machinery. All the windows will be replaced. Construction will be the word for the next year or so. Expect the "pardon our appearance" theme through next August!
